Infectious Mononucleosis Symptoms and Natural Remedies

Infectious mononucleosis also known as kissing disease or glandular fever is an infection common in adolescence and children. It is caused by Epstein-Barr virus which is a human herpes virus. The designation "mononucleosis" refers to an increase in one type of white blood cells i.e. lymphocytes in the bloodstream relative to the other blood components as a result of the EBV infection.

The symptoms of Infectious Mononucleosis are as follows:-

  • Fatigue and prolonged malaise
  • Low grade fever
  • Swollen glands
  • Nausea and anorexia
  • Cough, chest pain and photophobia
  • In later stages there may be spleen enlargement and jaundice.

Fever Therapy Treatment And Other Natural Remedies For Treating Infectious Mononucleosis

Immediately upon diagnosis put the infectious mononucleosis patient into a full body pack or a heated tub or whirlpool to induce an artificial fever of 102 degrees for three to five days or until the skin eruptions dry up. An early, mild case may subside with three treatments. An advanced, severe case will require more. The treatments often have been completely curative, even when they are not begun until three weeks or more after the onset of the disease. Some cases will require also regular massage, charcoal poultices, diet restricted in fats and sugars, and general supportive measures.

  1. Sore, swollen and inflamed glands are a typical infectious mononucleosis symptom seen throughout this illness. Swollen glands are normally felt in the neck although some people feel them in the armpits and groin. Herbal Remedies
