Eucalyptus or Blue Gum is a tree originally from Australia and has been used by Aboriginals since time immemorial as a powerful antiseptic for treating and healing infections and fevers. Eucalyptus or Blue Gum has now been adopted by conventional medicines and is found in cough syrups e.t.c.

What are the Healing Properties of Eucalyptus or Blue Gum?

Eucalyptus essential oil is used as analgesic, anti-neuralgic, anti-rheumatic, anti-spasmodic, antiviral and anti bacteria. The Australian peppermint species, E. dives, are used externally as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Eucalyptus E. dives leaves or oil are used to treat and heal bronchitis, mouth and throat infections, influenza and colds, sciatica, arthritis and sprains. It also lowers fevers in influenza and colds and is also an excellent decongestant inhalation and expectorant.

Eucalyptus or Blue Gum pulverised leaves can also be added to liquidized vaseline (liquidized through heating) and applied to relieve pain of  sprains.
