  • Glass and straw
  • Ice bag                                                 
  • Pan of ice
  • Paper and pencil

  • Swimsuit or underwear
  • Thermometer and watch
  • Towels and washcloths


How A Whirlpool Fever Therapy Procedure Is conducted or performed.:
  • Write treatment time on schedule, and, for the sake of the following patient, stay within your time limit.
  •  Fill with water at 110-112 degrees F. (If patient is obese, do not fill tub completely).
  • Have patient drink plenty of water before treatment.
  • Have all equipment on hand; make sure the room is a comfortable temperature. Add fan or heater as necessary. Provide privacy.
  • Explain procedure to patient. Provide emotional support.
  • Assist into tub. Explain that tub is deeper than floor level. Secure chair for patient.
  • Make them comfortable. Provide a headrest; some fasten a sponge pillow with clothes pins to the edge of the tub. Make sure chair is secure; provide privacy by use of a swimsuit, or permitting them to use some underwear. Some secure a towel over the whirlpool water directly under the patient’s head to protect them from the heat. Adjust the fan and the light to their comfort. Most female patients like the jet pointed to the side. Adjust jet to their comfort.
  • Take temperature, pulse, and water temperature, and record every five minutes. Raise the mouth temperature to 102 to 104.
