Incontinence

Incontinence is the loss of bladder control that affects 13 million Americans and is twice as likely to affect women than men. The causes include damage to the supporting muscles and ligaments of the bladder resulting from childbirth or pregnancy or trauma, recurrent and acute infections. Child enuresis or bedwetting could also cause incontinence. Considering that there are different causes of incontinence, medicinal herb remedies must therefore depend on the cause. Some of the medicinal herbs that are used to treat incontinence are horsetail, plantain, shepherd's purse and St John's wort.

Medicinal Herb formulas to treat Incontinence.

If the incontinence resulted from childbirth and the stress it caused on the bladder, then taking shepherd's purse tea or tincture will help to tone the ligaments surrounding the bladder.

In the case where there is nerve irritation or damage, then one needs to St John's wort tea and in cases of symptoms indicating chronic cystitis, one needs to take plantain tea.

In order to restore damaged tissues of the bladder, take horsetail juice or tea for its high silica content.

Other natural remedies

I got the following natural remedy for stress incontinence for women that I got from WebMD is the following exercise:-

"because stress incontinence stems from weak pelvic muscles, an excellent defense is to strengthen the muscles around the urethral closure. You can do this through Kegel exercises: Clench the muscles you would use to stop the flow of urine. Hold the squeeze for 10 seconds, then relax. Do three or four sets every day. As these muscles grow stronger, so will your bladder control."

Prostatitis

Prostatitis results from the inflammation of the prostate gland in men. The prostate gland which is about the size of a  small walnut that lies just below a man's bladder. The prostate gland produces most of the fluid in semen.

Some of the symptoms of prostatitis include  pain during urination, chills and fever and pelvic pain frequency, urgency and poor flow of urine. The condition could worsen in cases where urine is retained in the bladder as it may worsen the pain and the infection leading to cystitis. There are some herbs that can help in curing oneself from prostatitis such as nettle root, plantain, horsetail and couch grass.

How medicinal herbs are used to cure prostatitis

One of the most effective medicinal herbs in treating prostatitis is a tincture mix of horsetail and nettle root three times a day as a tonic for the genital area and urinary tract.

Taking at least eight cloves of garlic everyday until the infection is gone is especially helpful where the infection is antibacterial. The only drawback is the body odour from the garlic but otherwise this is the most effective way of treating bacterial infections from my personal experience.

If you notice blood in the urine then take plantain tea, horsetail tea and couch grass tea. Drink as much tea as possible throughout the day and this will soothe the membranes and increase urine flow.

Other Natural Remedies to cure prostatitis

One natural remedy to treat prostatitis is taking plenty of fluids. The other being taking lots of rest so that the body can concentrate on tackling the infection.

Liver Cirrhosis

Liver Cirrhosis is the scaring of the liver because of liver diseases and sometimes because of long term diseases. The scar tissue will block normal flow of blood through the liver and need to be dealt with as the liver is one of the most important cleansing organs of the body.  There are some medicinal herbs such as common club moss, and horsetail that can be take to deal with cirrhosis.

It is recommended to take one cup of common club moss tea on an empty stomach at least half an hour before breakfast and before dinner. This will relieve shortness of breath that results from the cirrhosis of the liver.

There are some poultices that should be applied to the liver area at night and in the mornings. Compresses of sweedish bitters can be applied to the liver for 4 hours every day. To compliment this compress also apply a warm horsetail poultice for 2 hours in the mornings and evenings.
