Raw Food Herbs

There are some foods such as garlic, parsley, cayenne pepper etc that are considered both as foods and herbs as well. For instance garlic is a well known for its antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. The benefit of these raw food herbs is that they can be taken as any normal food. Just like other herbs they have both nutritional value and also have curative powers as well and can be taken daily as food. As for pure herbs, they should only be taken when one is ill as they can be toxic and should only be taken under instructions of an experienced herbalist or by following the instructions on the pack in the case of factory prepared herbs. The raw food herbs can be taken without following any instructions just like any food.

One of the many benefits of eating raw food is that one will have access to a whole array of essential nutrients such as amino acids, vitamins etc that can be lost when food is cooked. Factory prepared herbs may in most cases lose some of their efficacy due to the heat and various processes they go.

Raw Food

Eating  raw food especially raw vegetables has no equal in terms of protecting the body and helping the body's cure itself from various diseases. It is common knowledge that cooking food changes the chemical formula of the food we eat and lessens its ability to nourish the body as some enzymes, vitamins and other essential elements are lost during the cooking process. Microwaving food destroys more enzymes and essential amino acids than other forms of cooking. It would be advisable to steam the food if you cannot eat them raw rather microwaving the food. Cooking food not only makes the food  less health promoting but even harmful to the body in some cases. Cases have been given in which cancer patients have managed to defeat cancer by switching to a mainly raw food diet comprising of raw vegetables and fruits.

Below are some of the benefits of raw food:-

  • Raw food eliminates toxins and waste that may have accumulated in the body.
  • Raw food restores acid/alkaline balance.
  • It also supplies the maximum level of nutrients in the food to the body for optimal cell function.
  • It also increases the efficiency with which cells up oxygen thereby improving cell activities.
  • Raw food also helps in reducing weight.
  • Eating raw food also helps our self esteem by making us feel and look great.

Reversing Chronic Glomerulonephritis

In a Johns Hopkins University study led by kidney diseases expert Mackenzie Walser MD it was found that a very low protein diet with amino acid supplements may cure a severe kidney disease such as chronic Glomerulonephritis in some people. This was a surprising result since kidney disease patients already lose too much protein in their urine and  yet this study showed that restricting dietary protein may help many kidney sufferers such as those with chronic Glomerulonephritis. Detailed dietary restrictions are contained in Dr Mackenzie Walser 's Book, Coping with Kidney Disease, which I would strongly recommend you read before you embark on this journey

Scientists have not solved the paradox of why eating less protein benefits some patients -- sufferers already lose too much protein in their urine, yet restricting dietary protein may help many sufferers, says Mackenzie Walser, M.D., the study's lead author and a professor of pharmacology, molecular sciences and medicine. In the study, which was supported in part by the National Institutes of Health and published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases,  "Five patients remain virtually cured, while only one patient's blood-protein level worsened, " says Walser.

In the study the researchers put 16 adults on a very low protein diet with essential amino acid or ketoacid supplements for 10 months. Essential amino acids are those amino acids -- building blocks of protein -- that the body can not make. Ketoacids are slightly modified forms of amino acids. The disorder gradually disappeared during the next three to 15 months in five participants, who started the study before kidney failure became severe, the results show. Four of the five people have resumed normal or nearly normal diets and have remained in remission or near remission for six months to two years. The other 11 participants, who had more advanced kidney failure before starting the study, showed temporary improvement, but all eventually went on dialysis.

The diet used in the study excluded such high-protein foods as meat, fish, poultry, cheese and milk and included supplemental tablets of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. For more natural remedies for Glomerulonephritis see post Glomerulonephritis or Nephritis Herbal and Home Remedies.
