Echinacea Side Effects

Below are some of the side effects of using echinacea besides the unpleasant taste (the unpleasant taste has been found to stimulate the immune cells in the mouth).-
  • High doses of echinacea can sometimes cause dizziness or nausea
  • There could also be allergic reactions such as mild rash and in very rare cases  life threatening anaphylaxis
  • Sometimes echinacea can also cause liver toxicity (hepatitis)
  • There are also a few tests that have pointed to possible suppression of immunity  when  echinacea is used over prolonged period. The advice is to use echinacea for 10 to 14 days and stop for a few days before resuming.
