Iritis : Symptoms and Treatment

What Is Iritis?

Iritis is a painful and often serious inflammation of the iris; it may be due to a virus infection or it may be associated  with such systemic diseases as rheumatoid arthritis or tuberculosis. It has a tendency to recur frequently and to become chronic. 

Symptoms of Iritis


It is characterised by pain which is often deep and severe, in contradistinction to the mild or moderate irritation and burning of conjunctivitis. There is often intense redness and engorgement of conjunctival vessels and photophobia (aversion to light). 

How To Treat Iritis With Fever Therapy.

Uchee Pines Institute in America have treated severe cases or Iritis with artificial fever therapy using either the russian bath or heated whirlpool. In every case the fever therapy treatment  resulted in the subsidence of the acute attack, without complications. The number of treatment varied from one to six. It was not necessary to use drug dilation of the pupil as is commonly prescribed with these treatments.
