hepatitis C Natural Cures

Dr Berkinson, an MD and also holder of a PhD in microbiology with an advanced specialty in mushroom toxicology has prepared a protocol for treating hepatitis C. The protocol is what he calls a conservative triple antioxidant approach to the treatment of hepatitis C : Combination of lipoic acid (thioctic acid), silymarin, and selenium. This protocol to be explained in detail below, Dr Berkinson says, will protect the liver from free radical damage, increase levels of other fundamental antioxidants, and interfere with viral proliferation. I have personally read of  one hepatitis C patient who has followed this protocol and has lived symptom free for more than twenty years. The protocol has helped him to keep the virus in check.

The protocol presents the following ways of supporting the liver in the treatment of hepatitis C:-

  1. Don't over use the liver. To effectively fight hepatitis C one needs to make sure that the liver is not overworked. The liver is especially overworked by alcohol consumption. If you suffering from Hepatitis C then you definitely need to stop taking alcohol. One should also avoid saturated fats that are found in red meat, margarine, processed foods and dairy products etc. Hepatitis C patients should also avoid caffeine, sugar, salt and refined carbohydrates. These only overtax the liver without helping the body nutritionally as they are nutrient deficient. Hot spices are also a no no. A hepatitis C patient should also avoid some medications such as acetaminophen found in Tylenol and other medications. This is because acetaminophen is the number one cause of liver failure.
  2. Do detoxification periodically. You can do a detoxification by just eating raw vegan foods or fresh vegetable juices for a week or so to cleanse or detoxify the body. During this period the patient should only take fruit, vegetable, fresh juices, herbal teas and potassium broth. Doing this can speed recovery. You can also even go further to perform an enema to cleanse the intestines of any old fecal matter which contribute to toxins trickling back into the blood veins in the intestines.
  3. Eat Liver friendly Foods to Strengthen the liver. All hepatitis patients should make sure that they always add turmeric in all meals. Turmeric should be used in stews, casseroles and vegetable dishes. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and has anticancer properties and is also liver friendly. Foods rich in chlorophyll such as wheat grass juice and others are also a must for all hepatitis C patients.
  4. Take liver friendly supplements: Supplements such as vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, silymarin (an antioxidant from milk thistle), and other alpha lipoic acid have been shown in various tests to be very effective against hepatitis C. Vitamin C has antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties.
  5. Take Some herbs : Many people living healthfully with hepatitis also recommend dandelion root, taking it as a tea or an infusion. Dandelion is great for protecting and stimulating the liver and improving bile flow. The dandelion can be taken as a coffee and make sure you use roasted dandelion root rather than the instant dandelion tea. Hepatitis C patients should also take milk thistle. Milk thistle is an excellent liver protective and regenerative herb.
  6. Application Castor Oil Packs on the Liver Area. Castor oil packs should be applied to the liver area for 2 hours, three to six days a week. The application of Castor oil packs will stimulate the liver to heal. Caution is in order here, make sure that your bowels are moving at least two times a day before you use Castor oil packs as the toxins the body gets rid of need to be eliminated from the body rather than get concentrated in the colon. This same rule should apply to the detoxification process as well, as your condition may worsen if the body fails to eliminate the toxins that are eliminated by the liver and other cleansing parts of the body.
  7. Take Vegetable and Fruit Juices: Take vegetable juices to nourish and heal the liver. Some herbalist recommend especially a vegetable juice that is a combination of chard, beetroot, fennel, celery, beetroot and cabbage. On fruit juices hepatitis patients should make sure that they almost always include grape juice which contains blood purifying and anti-inflammatory properties
Following the advice above you can manage to die at an old age with hepatitis C under control or in some cases some have even gotten rid of it completely.

Castor Oil Packs

Agatha M. Thrash, M.D.

Preventive Medicine
"Conditions that stress or compromise the immune system will very often benefit from castor oil packs. Nowhere is this more obvious than with AIDS. I have talked with several AIDS patients who have added castor oil packs (usually for one hour a day) to their treatment regimen with very positive results. Within two weeks, it was not uncommon for them to see increases in their WBC counts (white blood cell counts), platelet counts, hematocrit readings, and RBC counts (red blood cells).

“I should mention also that in addition to the castor oil packs most of those I talked to are also drinking a combination of olive oil and lemon juice to further stimulate lymphatic flow and liver activity. It can be made by blending the following:

1 clean whole lemon (pulp, rind, seeds, and all)
1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
1 ½ cups of distilled water
4 rounded tablespoons of frozen orange juice concentrate

“The blended material is then strained through a wire strainer to remove the pulp, which is discarded. The remaining liquid is divided in four equal portions of approximately ¼ cup each and a portion is consumed with each of the three daily meals and before bedtime.
“In addition to stimulating lymphatic flow, the drink increases the flow of bile from the liver and gallbladder, which, in turn, enhances one's ability to digest essential fatty acids through the Peyer's patches in the small intestine. It is not uncommon for AIDS patients to experience weight gain and a reversal of a long list of complaints often associated with fatty acid deficiencies." Dr. David G. Williams, Alternatives newsletter; July, 1995.
The olive oil drink Dr. Williams suggests may be too sweet for many people due to the orange juice concentrate. I prefer a similar preparation made with: 1 grated beet, 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, and the juice of 1 lemon (Include the peel and seeds if you like). This recipe is from Dr Kelly.
Castor oil has an impressive anti-microbial activity. Anyone with a congested lymphatic system or liver, whether they have AIDS of not, will benefit by using a castor oil pack.
To use a castor oil pack you will need:
     Cold pressed castor oil
Hot water bottle or heating pad
     White plastic (garbage bag)
Two or three one-foot squares of cotton flannel, wool, or towel

On top of the hot water bottle or heating pad, lay the plastic. Next soak the cloth with castor oil and lay this on top of the plastic. It is a good idea to lay plastic and/or a towel underneath on the bedding. The entire pack is then placed on the abdomen. The body can then be wrapped in a large bath towel. The pack should remain in place for at least an hour. It can be reused a few times, but it needs to be refrigerated. If the person is very toxic, don't reuse it very much (use your intuition on this), as the pack draws the toxins out of the body. With each use, add a little more castor oil. Clean up with a little soda water. This treatment feels so nice. It will help you sleep soundly and wake up feeling rested. It is fine if you go to sleep with the pack on.

Castor oil is available from health food stores. For lower prices you can order it from Frontier Herbs, P.O. Box 299, Norway, IA 52318. Phone 800-669-3275.You will need to have a tax number or be some type of business or firm to order from them, but it's a lot cheaper. Read more about castor oil in the book, The Oil That Heals, by Dr William McGarey.

If using castor oil packs is too labor intensive, a simpler and very effective method of using castor oil externally is as follows: Before going to bed, warm a small amount of castor oil in a pan. Massage the oil into the abdomen (liver/colon) area and wherever there is pain. Lay a white towel underneath the abdomen area to protect the sheets. On top of the parts of the body where the oil has been applied, place clean, soft, cotton cloths. You may then wrap a towel around the abdomen, and place hot water bottles on the top of that. This is a mild and gentle way to decongest and heal the liver/colon area. Use clean cloths each time. They are easy to wash, as the oil is absorbed by the body.
