Medicinal Plants

Medicinal plants and herbs were the norm for treating disease till the 1800s when the present conventional medicine began to dominate. Medicinal plants or medicinal herbs can actually promote and protect your health. Herbs such as echinacea, garlic, aloe vera and elderflower help the body by boosting the immune system and therefore letting the body fight off infections. These herbs also kill bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites.

The use of medicinal plants and herbs is now on the rise judging by the sales of herbs that continue to rise. I am told that in the United States alone herbal medicine sales are in the region of $2 billion dollar a year. In any case, according to the World Health Organisation, 80 percent of the world's population use herbal medicine as their primary source of medication.

This blog has been created for the specific purpose of teaching people on proven efficacy and use of some medicinal herbs and other natural remedies such as fever therapy and nutrition therapy. Personally I would urge readers to try fever therapy and nutritional therapy first before taking herbs. This is because there some herbs that could be toxic and may do more harm than good. However, I am also aware that combining the two can be very effective for treating acute infections and some difficult to treat diseases such as cancer.

I would urge those wishing to self treat their infections to consult some experienced herbalists and health care professionals before embarking on the treatment. This would help them to make sure that the herbs are used correctly and thus avoid any undesirable effects. Herbal medication can be very effective and safe when used correctly.

Recently some scientific studies have proven the effectivenes of some herbs such as echinacea, garlic, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, St. John's Wort, burdock root, Siberian Ginseng, Gingko biloba, Cayenne pepper and many more. Recently scientist pointed out that at least 328 new drugs could soon be developed from medicinal plants and herbs from the tropical rain forests.

Below are some herbal remedies for various common infections:-
