Elderberry Sambacus Nigra

Elderberry sambucus nigra is grown in mostly in Central Europe. One of the extracts of elderberry, sambucol, is used to inactivate viruses. It is one of the few real and rare antiviral preparations, the others being aciclovir for herpes and interferon. Sambucol was developed by Dr Madeleine Mumcuoglu, a prominent French/Israeli scientist and virologist. The product is a combination of the extract from elderberry and other components such as raspberry extract.

Sambucol works by having its active ingredients in the elderberries bind themselves with viruses before they penetrate the walls of normal cells. It has been tested on numerous well-known flu viruses and was effective on all of them.
