Healing Yourself With Dandelion Root

Dandelion

Dandelion is one of the great cleansing herbs supporting the liver in its work of cleansing the body of unwanted elements such as excess hormones.  Other cleansing herbs are burdock root and cleaver. The name dandelion comes from french dent-de-lion, after leaves which look like a lion's teeth.

It has traditionally been used for cooling fevers and clearing boils. Dandelion can also be used to treat eye disorders, diarrhoea, fluid retention, liver problems and heartburn. While many conventional diuretics have been blamed for flushing out important minerals such as potassium from the body dandelion contains an abundance of potassium, iron, silicon, magnesium and other minerals that easily replace those lost through increased urination.

The bitter compounds in dandelion root stimulate the flow of bile to aid digestion and boost sluggish liver. Its content of vitamin choline supports the liver's work.
