Treat Nosebleeds Naturally

The most common cause of nosebleeds is trauma to the outside of the nose from a blow to the face, or trauma to the inside of the nose through nose picking. Other factors leading to nose bleeds are as follows:-

  • exposure to warm, dry air for prolonged periods of time,
  • nasal and sinus infections,
  • allergic rhinitis
  • nasal foreign body
  • nasal surgery,
  • deviated or perforated nasal septum, and
  • cocaine use.
Other less commmon causes are underlying diseases or  some medications. Medications such as clopidogrel bisulfate (Plavix), aspirin and  warfarin( Coumadin) which blood-thinning may lead to the inability of blood to clot.

Diseases such as liver disease, kidney disease, nasal tumours, high blood pressure, chronic alcohol abuse, platelet disorders and inherited blood clotting may also lead to nosebleeds.

Cold applications may be put on the upper spine at the base of the skull for checking nosebleeds. Also try placing the hands in ice water, or the feet in cold water.
